Borusan Logistics will change the journey of logistics with technology
Borusan Logistics General Manager Serdar Erçal stated that they have been on a great journey for the last 2 years with the aim of becoming a technology company and said, “We are going through a design process that increases efficiency by using the opportunities of digital technologies. We are at the stage of providing service to our customers by managing all logistics processes untouched by Artificial Intelligence.”
Founded in 1973, Borusan Logistics has a daily distribution capacity of 8 thousand points in the country, 450 thousand m2 of closed and open storage area, 28 transfer centers with warehousing, special distribution and partial transportation, customs clearance, road complete transportation, auto transportation, vehicle storage and dispatch. Stating that they offer pre-vehicle control (PDI) services, Erçal said, “While Borusan Logistics carries out its activities with eTA (Electronic Transportation Network) with the aim of providing the best customer experience in the sector, at the same time, as a technology company, we develop digital platforms that offer special solutions for its stakeholders.”
Stating that Borusan Lojistik’s international logistics operations will be carried out mainly in Europe, North America, Middle East, Central Asia and Far East in 2022, Erçal said: “During the 2022 operating period, we will have a wide agency and partnership network, offices in Germany and China. It has carried out 55 thousand export handling annually in land transportation, 7.4 million kilos of freight in air transportation and 26,900 TEU freight transportation in sea transportation.”
Pointing out that they will close 2023 with a turnover of 684 million dollars in port and logistics, Erçal gave the following information about their 2024 plans: “If we look at 2024, digitalization and sustainability will continue to be at the center of all our business processes. However, we will continue our work quickly to provide the best experience to our customers. We are growing as an operation in vehicle logistics, together with important sectoral investments and new players in the automotive industry. Additionally, with the entry of new players into the market, the number of customers we serve continues to increase. We are making preparations for a segment that promises growth with our 3 thousand m2 PDI area, which is fully suitable for electric vehicles. In recent years, we acquired a company in China and expanded our sphere of influence by establishing a special team for the European market in Germany. We are further strengthening our organization here, especially with human resources. Intermodal transportation is also in our focus, both in terms of creating alternatives to the bottlenecks we experience on the highway and as a greener transportation mode. Today, we continue our work by deepening the service provided by the eTA Platform, which we provide for our domestic complete transportation services, especially for trucks and truck drivers, increasing niche and useful services, and making the mobile application easier to use every day.”
“Our Digital Journey in the Logistics Industry”
“Today, it is not possible for companies that do not provide their customers with the best experience, not only through conventional but also through digital opportunities, to survive. We are constantly working on the best customer experience through multiple channels. We manage a large transportation network within the country with 400 thousand trips annually. We have to do this by taking advantage of all the conveniences of digital. We continue to develop our eTA (Electronic Transportation Network) Platform for domestic customers’ instant vehicle needs and operational performance monitoring. While we offer standard and fast solutions for many SMEs with similar needs, we jointly develop customized solutions for our corporate customers’ varying needs and integrate them into our systems.”
“Our Borusan Logistics Digital Projects”
“In recent years, digital technologies have not only provided efficiency but also created disruptive and transformative effects in many sectors of the business world. Of course, the logistics industry also gets its share of this. Borusan Logistics, with its leading and pioneering role and awareness of its responsibility to the sector, has made the digitalization of employee competence and processes a priority target and has made many digital technologies, from robotic processes to artificial intelligence, from big data analytics to augmented reality, a part of its operations. In this way, we aim to reduce and reset our impact on the environment and sustainability, ensure that our long-distance captains find the least fuel, fastest route and easiest return load, increase corporate efficiency with digitalization projects, and introduce brand new business models such as agency that exists entirely digitally. We can say that we contribute to the sector and the world and we will continue to increase these.”
