Erkport handles 1 million vehicles per year
Providing finished vehicle logistics services to 16 countries in Europe, the Far East, North America, North Africa and the Middle East with 18 ships, Erkport ensures that 90 thousand vehicles enter the market per month. Announcing the good news of new projects, Tolga Emrah Gezgin, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that after Haydarpaşa Port, they will first transform Yalova Port into an automotive terminal with an annual handling capacity of 200 thousand vehicles.
What kind of advantages does Erkport provide to its customers in the areas it operates?
As Erkport, we have been standing out with our activities in 5 basic areas since 2013: port operations and management, logistics operations, warehouse management, finished vehicle logistics operations and Ro-Ro services. I can briefly list our in-port transportation services as; I can list all cargo types as bulk, general cargo, project cargo, cargo lashing/unlashing, field terminal services (stacking/loading).
With our flexible service network and service model, we also have an integrated structure that can contribute to JIT AND JIS principles by offering customer-oriented solutions. While we optimize our logistics processes and complete our deliveries on time, we can instantly adapt to changes with our fast and flexible solutions. The fact that our ships are owned by us and their volumes and capacities are high enables us to produce solutions that meet the needs of our customers. Thanks to the carrying capacity of our PCTC-style high-volume ships in our fleet, we provide our customers with maximum efficiency and reliability. Improved route options are also an issue we care about. We keep our transit time between Asia and Europe to a minimum by using the Suez Canal, one of the critically important waterways in the world. Thus, we offer the most efficient alternative for our customers. By combining the advantages of road transportation and maritime transportation, we both reduce our carbon emissions and guarantee a smooth and risk-free arrival at the destination.
IT BUILDS A BRIDGE BETWEEN THE FAR EAST AND EUROPE
Which regions do you transport the most? What is your annual cargo volume?
I must say that finished vehicle logistics operations account for the largest share of our business volume. We are growing by increasing our transportation capacity and the number of ships every day. Among the regions we carry out the most transportation are Haydarpaşa, Toulon, Monfalcone, DjenDjen, La Goulet, Barcelona, Genoa, Tarragona, Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Khalifa, Yantai, Gunsan. With our influence in Europe, North America, North Africa, the Middle East and the Far East, we provide services on 8 regular lines with an instantaneous floating capacity of 16 thousand, and we are among the leading names in the sector in the field of vehicle transportation. In our finished vehicle logistics operations currently ongoing between the Far East and the Middle East region and Europe, these locations will continue to be in our field of activity in the near future and in the long term. In addition, we have increased our commercial vehicle logistics journeys such as buses, tractors and trailers on these routes. With the 25 thousand vehicle capacity we have allocated to Turkiye, we have reached an average monthly transport capacity of 90 thousand vehicles. Considering the annual average, we have the potential to enable approximately 1 million vehicles to enter the market.
What is on your investment agenda?
We have a new project ahead of us, the first steps of which we are taking. We have signed our new investment in Yalova Port, we will announce the details of our project very soon. Just as we transformed Haydarpaşa Port into an automotive terminal, we want to transform Yalova Port into an automotive terminal and make it an important import and export port. While we aim to create a handling capacity of 200 thousand cars on an annual basis in the first stage, we will increase this capacity with our new investments in the future. As for our finished vehicle logistics operations between the Far East and Middle East regions and Europe, these locations will continue to be at the forefront in the near future, while we will increase our density of commercial vehicle logistics such as buses, tractors, and trailers on these routes. We aim to close 2024 by increasing our passenger car and high-volume vehicle transportation business carried out from Haydarpaşa Port and our PDI capacity.
IT WILL ALSO GROW ON ROUTES NOT CONNECTED TO TURKİYE
What kind of growth strategy did you determine?
Our vehicle transportation project was among our prominent activities last year. Specifically for this service, we started our project by adding ships to our fleet to support the international commercial processes of passenger and commercial vehicle brands. Realizing the need and producing solutions quickly enabled us to enter the market strongly. We have established our goals on growth by creating a comprehensive transportation network. At the point we have reached today, we offer uninterrupted vehicle transportation services to 16 countries with our 18 ships and a monthly transportation capacity of 90 thousand vehicles. Slovenia, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mexico, America, Canada, China, Korea, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are among the countries we serve. There are many operations we carry out outside Turkiye-connected routes. Apart from routes connected to Turkiye; We will continue to offer our services to our customers in different combinations of countries and routes such as Spain-Algeria, Belgium-England, Morocco-Italy, France-Saudi Arabia, China-Algeria, Korea-Egypt.
