2023-11-27

Boltas, which serves all European countries with its intermodal lines, continues its investments in this field. Boltas Intermodal Manager Merih Ünal stated that they use land, sea and railway in an integrated manner and with optimum efficiency, and that they will invest in a new warehouse in Trieste, one of the most important intermodal transportation centers in Italy.

What kind of alternatives does BOLTAS create in the field of intermodal transportation?
As Boltas, we carry out intermodal transportation for many sectors with our nearly 1,200 equipment, including nearly 700 containers and more than 300 swap-bodies. We serve our customers by minimizing carbon emissions and transportation costs in our logistics activities. In our intermodal lines, we use road, sea and railway in an integrated manner and with optimum efficiency. Our direct land block train transportation also has an important place among our intermodal transportation. We have our company’s block train service between Germany and Türkiye.
We have offices abroad in Germany, France, Romania and Italy. We plan to accelerate our investments in these countries in the short term. In addition, we will soon realize our new warehouse investment in Trieste, Italy. We have prepared our strategic road maps for the next 3, 5 and 10 years and we are taking all our steps within the scope of these plans.

Which lines do you offer services on?
We serve all European countries with our intermodal lines. We reach Italy’s Trieste Port or France’s Sete Port with our Ro-Ro departures from Istanbul, Yalova, Izmir and Mersin.
We can provide service with both Ro-Ro connections and direct land train services on the Türkiye, Germany and Benelux lines. With this line, we reduce carbon emissions by 80 tons at a time, and we can provide a cost advantage of around 15-20 percent compared to the highway.
In addition, we also launched our UK intermodal line last year. Our work continues for new intermodal routes and routes. With our intermodal transportation, we deliver the cargo to the destination in 8-10 days of transit time.

Which sectors are included in your customer portfolio?
We transport cargo for many sectors such as automotive, textile, chemistry and industry via intermodal. A significant portion of our customers consist of brands we constantly work with. We continue to work on new customers to improve our customer portfolio. Our main goal in intermodal transportation is to always reflect the best experience to our customers with our Ro-Ro, Ro-Ro + rail, Ro-Ro + road, Ro-Ro + railway + road and land block train solutions.

What kind of growth acceleration do you expect in intermodal transportation?
The EU Green Deal will directly affect our sector. At this point, we think that intermodal transportation will become even more prominent. As a company that mainly carries out intermodal transportation, we follow all developments closely and focus on developing environmentally friendly technologies and making investments that support sustainability. At this point, we take care to inform the brands we serve.
In addition, the negative impact of both monetary tightening and fluctuation in fuel prices is felt globally. We also see that there will be significant increases in highway prices in European countries in the coming days. At this point, as Boltas, we are trying to direct our customers to intermodal transportation as much as possible. In this mode of transportation, we ensure that they are minimally affected by price fluctuations.
